In a recent feature by The National News, Faisal Abbas, Vice President of Employee Benefits and General Insurance at The Continental Group, shared crucial insights on pet insurance in the UAE. His comments highlighted the significance of choosing the right coverage to ensure comprehensive protection for your furry friend.
“Basic pet insurance often covers fees charged by veterinarians and treatment costs up to the limit specified in the policy. Comprehensive policies can cover the loss and recovery of the pet if it is stolen or lost. This also includes the cost to house a pet in a kennel or cattery during emergency treatment at the hospital,” Faisal Abbas explained.
Abbas also discussed what is not covered by pet insurance, emphasizing that injuries or illnesses manifesting within the first 30 days of the policy start date will not be eligible for claims. He added, “Even if the pet is insured, any injuries or illnesses (pre-existing or new) manifesting within the first 30 days of the policy start date will not be eligible for claims.”
