Employee Benefits

In the UAE you have to insure your staff. Most employers stop there, buy the cheapest compliant plan, and find out what that decision cost them at the exit interview. Salary gets you shortlisted. The package is where two similar offers stop looking similar, and it is the part of the offer you can improve without moving anyone up a grade.

We place group cover across leading insurers, including AXA Gulf, SUKOON, Orient, BUPA International, Cigna and Allianz Worldwide Care, and then we run it for you. Placing the cover takes a week. Running it takes the year.

What a benefits programme is made of

Four covers do most of the work. Group health insurance is the legal floor and the benefit your people judge you on, because it is the one they use. Group life pays a multiple of salary to the family if an employee dies, and it costs far less than most employers assume. Group disability and accident covers the harder situation, where someone survives but cannot work. And pension and retirement planning deals with the end of service promise you have already made, which grows on your balance sheet whether or not you have funded it.

Small team or large one?

The insurance market treats these as two different jobs, so we do too. Below roughly {{SME_THRESHOLD}} employees you are choosing from the insurers who genuinely want small groups, mostly on standard terms, and the skill is knowing which of them prices your industry sensibly rather than politely declining it. Above that, your own claims history starts driving your premium, and the renewal becomes a negotiation backed by data rather than a quote you accept or refuse.

If you are the smaller of the two, start with group health insurance for SMEs. If your headcount is larger or spread across more than one country, group health insurance for mid and large corporates is the right page.

The part nobody puts in the brochure

Joiners and leavers every month. Dependants added mid-term. Medical cards that have not arrived. A claim the insurer has queried and nobody has chased. A renewal that lands well above last year with no explanation attached. That is the actual weekly shape of an employee benefits programme, and it is the reason to use a broker instead of buying direct. Your advisor handles the insurer so your HR team can handle your people.

FAQ

1. Do we have to provide health insurance for our employees?

In Dubai, employers are required to provide health cover for their staff under Law No. 11 of 2013, and Abu Dhabi has its own employer mandate. Dependants are usually a separate question, and the answer depends on the emirate and on your own policy. We will tell you exactly what applies to your company and where you have a choice.

2. How many employees do we need before we can get group cover?

Fewer than most people expect. Some insurers write groups from as few as three employees, though the choice of insurer narrows at that size and so does the room to negotiate. Below three, individual plans are usually the better answer and we will say so.

3. Can we give different levels of cover to different staff?

Yes, and most companies above a certain size do. Cover is usually tiered by grade, with wider networks and higher limits further up. The rules have to be objective and applied consistently, which is worth designing properly at the start rather than defending later.

4. What happens at renewal?

We start well before the date, review how the plan was actually used, and take the renewal back to the market rather than accepting the first number. For larger groups your claims history is the main lever, so the earlier we have the data the better the outcome.

5. Do you handle the administration, or do we?

We do. Additions, deletions, card chasing, claims that stall, queries your team does not have time to make. That is the daily work of the account, and it is included rather than charged for.
